I finally ran well at high limits this month and as a result put up one of my best months since turning pro seven years ago. I was really happy with my play up until the last week where I feel like I just mailed it in. I've been playing a lot of hands trying to make SNE and the majority of my play lately I've been on auto-pilot playing lower limits. One of my weaknesses is that when I run well, I lose focus and desire to play. I don't have a choice but to play if I'm going to make SNE and leave Costa Rica in three weeks though so the result has been a lot of unfocused play. I'm resolving to make the most of my last three weeks and get focused.
I was extremely fortunate this month in a lot of ways. The high limit games have been dead the last two weeks. I put up a total of 26K hands at 30-60+ playing nearly every game that ran all day and only 11K in the last two weeks. To give you some perspective I played 33K hands last month at 30-60+ and 41K in June. Last year I played 46K in June and 48K in July. It's a pretty worrisome trend and I don't anticipate it's going to get any better for high limit HE which makes it all the more important to take advantage of things while I can.
On the VPP front I'm up to about 885K. I'm leaving Costa Rica no later than September 25th so I've still got some grinding to do but it doesn't look like it'll be a problem making SNE.
