Off To The Races in Cabo

It's been a while since my last post.  I'm back in Mexico, Cabo San Lucas this time.  We got here about eight days ago and I've been on absolute tear playing.  It seems like every day I wake up to play and I'm up 5K before I know it.  It's really been an amazing stretch and I'm enjoying it as much as possible since I know it can and will turn at any time.

On the VPP front I'm up to about 280K, far behind SNE pace.  I want to be done playing by October and in order to do that I need to average about 5500 VPPs a day.  That's pretty ambitious considering it equates to about 10-12 hours of playing a day, every day.  So far so good, I've averaged that my first eight days here.  The plan is to stay here three months, head home for a week and then off to another destination for the remaining two months.

That's about it.  I feel like I"m playing some of the best poker I've ever played but I always feel that way when I run this well.  As always the goal is stay focused and make the best possible decisions at the table, each and every decision.

Good luck at the tables everyone.

  1. Hi Tony,

How many tables do you multi table?

  2. Really depends on how clearly I'm thinking. I think on average, probably 3.5. But I play as many as 6 and as few as 2.

  9. another question.. Id really like to know what you think about jama-dharma ? as a player skill. atm im reading the huge jama dharma thread on 2p2 and it seems very interesting. Ive always liked him and his play. but it seems you guys have some issues with each other ?

  10. The answers to these questions are in the thread. Nothing more to say really than he's taken advantage of Poker Star's seating system to steal tens of thousands of dollars from players. You only have to look at his playing behavior to understand his skill level, he rarely plays in any games unless he starts with the button and he leaves shortly after the game starts ensuring he always gets an extra button.

  11. forgive me but isnt it what its all about ? getting the highest winrate and most amount of money ? I know you think its unethical and all and it destroys the enviroment for the fish. I realize that and I agree.

but still we are not here to make friends. we are here to make a living/earn money. am i wrong ? Do you play for catering the other players. are you willing to say you are not playing poker at the highest stakes to make money ?

  12. There is a line to draw and stealing thousands of buttons and tens of thousands of dollars is where that line gets crossed. The money he's stolen isn't related to poker skills in any way

  13. how can he steal on a poker table where we essentially are gambling ? everytime he gets a button , he could lose when he raise your BB and you 3bet and he loses to AA. I know thats not the majority of time. but in reality you guys could just change strategy and play every BB vs his button and it would decrease his overall button winnings wouldn't it over a large sample ? Im not defending him and saying what he does is right. but its within the rules as you guys point out more than one time in that thread. He is within the rules. can he really care what others think of him? hes there to earn money. so if "button stealing" is a strategy as you guys say it is and he abuses it. wouldn't it make him the smart one ? in terms of the goal of earning money? and you the stupid ones for not using that strategy? we all know we must use strategy's to stay on top.

As i look at it, isnt it just as subtle a skill/strategy as St1ckmans extreme table and seat selecting ? I remember that when he was the topic you guys stopped playing him or at least tried to punish him for it his unethical strategy. (Which i actually disagree with) I admire him for table and seat selecting so extreme. I couldn't do it. he just uses a skill on the lobby as much as you use your extremely good skills at the poker table.

am i totally far out or wrong ?

  14. Well two big things:

One is that you have a positive expectation on the button so it has value over time. In fact at the beginning of thread I posted what it's roughly worth, I believe it was about .15 BB/100. At 200/400 that's $60 a button.

The second is that it's not within the rules and that's what I've asked Poker Stars to investigate. They are looking at his behavior from what I've been told so it will be interesting to see if they agree with me.

FWIW, I had nothing to do with what they did to StickMan. He was an angle shooter but generally what he did was within the rules.

  15. ahh i see. I know you weren't and I wrongly said you guys. i should have said some guys did :) sorry about that

and i see, I guess i can understand if he gets the opportunity to earn another 0.15 BB/100 equal 60 dollars. I just am very baised <-- right word ? on this whole ethical play and players should get punished for it. as far as im concerned Im here to get better at playing im here to win money and have fun playing poker because i love the game. Im not here to let the worse players have a funny friday. Obviously theres a HUGE difference between a 5/10c fish and a 200/400 fish. my fish generally is retarded with IQ's as low as 70 :) they just dont care about others .. while it seems as the HS fish does. (mihail example) and 8superpoker right ? he also at one point wanted to be treated better i heard somewhere?

But you convinced me that his strategy is good for him but bad for everyone else. I get it and I wouldn't want to play in such a game vs people who would do that. HOWEVER, I don't see anything wrong with it. If it stays in the rules that its allowed. then im okay with it, while i do not like it i cant go and say he is not allowed to and I certainly won't be doing anything like they did to stickman. thats just rude of them, to punish a player for doing a strategy within the rules (not talking about angleshooting but jamas case) I find it very interesting and sad .. I always thought jama was an excellent player and one of my goals was to be able to play jama. he was the first hs limit player i ever watched play at 1000/2000 on FTP hehe.. But his responses in that thread made me really sad. he could have handled it better for sure.
