Quick December Update

I just hit 950K Vpps and am still only about 1 day ahead of pace. I'm struggling to get hands in but have been multitabling the lower limits to earn Vpps quickly. I've run really well as of late, I'm on about a 40K upswing after starting the month down 15K for the fourth consecutive month.

I'd really like to finish early and get some no-limit practice/studying in before the PokerStars Caribbean tournament I'm registered to play in, in early January. It doesn't look like that's going to happen. Worst case, I'll play a bunch of the smaller tournaments there as a warm-up before the main event. Next year should be filled with tournaments and no-limit, I'm really looking forward to it. I'll be blogging about my plans for the year at some point when I have some more time.

Here's what December has looked like so far.

  1. Hi! I just discovered your blog - nice work!
Where have you got the BB/100 pre rake stat from in your HEM? I can't find it under the stats section of mine.

  2. Thanks, that's a custom stat that one of my friends made.

  3. Great blog, whats the main reason you play LHE and not NL, my mate asked me this and I couldn't really think of a good answer.

Must be nice to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Are you doing SNE next year again?

  4. Thanks Royston. I started out playing limit and I've never switched over to no-limit. I would recommend to anyone starting out to play no-limit, there's a lot more money and a much bigger player pool in no-limit so there's a lot more opportunity to make money. The games do requires different skill sets and I think limit favors a more analytical mind which is what probably drew me to it in the first place.

I don't think I'll be trying for SNE again next year. It's a lot of work and time and think I can get more out of my time by focusing on other things. That said, they are making changes to the VPP structure that would allow me to reach SNE in about 20% fewer hands than this year so who knows. I'd say 90% chance I will not try though.

    Take care.
    Tony
